Standing Committees

Dental Health and Education Committee

This committee acts as consultants and works with local, state, and federal programs pertaining to dental education and overall dental health of Southern Alameda County. It encourages and assists in providing dental services when the community seeks them by attending community health fairs and responding to special requests from community organizations. Participate in our Give Kids A Smile Program and our Community Health Fairs.

Term: One year, renewable

Talent: Are you specifically interested in community activities, children’s dental health, and promoting public dental education and awareness? Do you want to nourish that altruistic nature of yours? Then join this committee!

Editorial Committee

This committee is responsible for the Explorer publication and its content. Members of the committee submit factual or editorial material for publication. Members also determine direction and content of publication.

Term: One year, renewable

Talent: Join with us and add your creative expertise to the newly revised and award winning newsletter.

Judicial Committee

This committee monitors complaints brought forth against member doctors that may violate the CDA and ADA Code of Ethics. The committee responds to complaints and counsels members.

Term: One year, renewable

Talent: Do you have a flair for counseling others? Help this committee to educate our member dentists about practicing dentistry within the Code of Ethics established by organized dentistry. Ethics is the foundation of our profession and working with this committee will help guide your clinical practice.

Legislative Committee

This committee works on behalf of SACDS to encourage legislators to see the dentistry side of issues. Feel the pulse of Sacramento’s legislative process.

Long Range Planning Committee

This committee recommends the formation and execution of the long range goals of the society.

Term: One year, renewable

Membership Committee/Recruitment & Retention Committee

This committee conducts a continuous study and makes recommendations for membership services provided by SACDS. It reviews membership issues and plans activities, events, and opportunities for member recruitment as well as member retention. Serve as mentors to newly elected members.

Meetings: Quarterly
Talent: Do you enjoy meeting new colleagues? Would you like to promote the many benefits of membership? Then this committee is for you. We need your energy, enthusiasm, and spirit!

Continuing Education Committee

This committee arranges, presents, and promotes the continuing education programs sponsored by the Society, seeking Exhibitors/Sponsors to offset program costs.

Term: One year, renewable
Meetings: Quarterly to set the calendar for the year
Talent: Lots of brainstorming power here; be in on the initial groundwork that it takes to put together the annual program calendar. If you attend numerous courses or none at all—we need your input. This is your opportunity to guide the educational direction presented to our membership. Fresh ideas and new exciting speakers are just a few of the attractions of this committee!

Peer Review Committee

Members of this committee are responsible for confidentially evaluating disputes between patients and member dentists or members dentists and insurance carriers at no cost to the parties involved. Committee work includes case review, clinical evaluations, and mediation activities.

Term: Two to three years
Talent: Are you a problem solver, good at finding fair resolutions to problems and conflict? This committee can be an asset to you and your own practice.
